Thanks for your interest in Hayward Bait & Bottle Shoppe. We have been in business since 1959. Our mission is to provide the best products, at the best price, with outstanding customer service.

The start of Hayward Bait & Bottle Shoppe begins with Eddies Bait Shop in 1949. Eddie Polo, started Eddie's Bait Shop in Moose Lake, 28 miles east of Hayward. He trapped his own minnows in area creeks, sorted them by hand, and sold them to area resorts. In 1959, Donnie Hogan created the Wholesale business partnering with his mother Thelma and Eddie Polo at the age of 22. Dorothy joined Donnie when they were married on June 4th, 1960. They bought their first wholesale route in 1965 and started expanding the territory. A new 6,000 s.f. Bait Barn was built in 2004 to wharehouse minnows, night crawlers, and leeches for the wholesale business. In 2006, the retail store was remodeled, expanded and a liquor store added. In 2008, a new hatchery building was added expanding the fish hatching and raising capabilities. Fish rearing and holding ponds were dug in 2010. Today, the businesses are split into Retail, Wholesale, and Hatchery opperations.

Recently we added a complete line of Shoremaster and Shoreline Docks and Lifts. Shoremaster has the most accessories for you waterfront.

We are also the headquarters for the Annual Muskie Inc. fall tournament

which is held the first full week-end in October each year.
